Overview
NACE Starleague needed a landing page and hype video created in three days for their conference about their plans for the year in terms of competition. The objective was to inform attendees and drive registrations. I created a landing page and the hype video. For the video, my team engaging script and efficiently produced the final product. After deployment, they promoted the assets to maximize participation at both the conference and on Twitter.
Problem
The main challenge faced by NACE Starleague was the daunting three-day deadline to create both a landing page and an exciting video for their conference. Developing a well-designed landing page and producing a high-quality video can be time-consuming, requiring meticulous planning, content creation, and production. The team was under significant pressure to complete these tasks quickly while ensuring the final assets were informative, engaging, and aligned with the conference's objectives.
To address this time constraint, the team committed to creating a sizzle reel for the upcoming NACE convention, scheduled for the following Wednesday, to announce LeagueSpot as the primary platform for the season. The task involved producing a 1.5 to 2.5-minute video encompassing all the updates to the LeagueSpot platform since their last exposure to it. Additionally, a visually captivating sample showcasing the new look and feel of the upcoming NACE season applied to LeagueSpot was a more intricate aspect of the project.
Solution
By leveraging the power of animation and video editing, the video brings Dr. Kowert's expertise to life, making complex esports concepts more accessible and engaging for parents. Through visual storytelling, parents can grasp the significance of online games and esports as a means for kids to build friendships, especially in the context of COVID and remote learning. By providing a concise yet comprehensive overview, the animated video acts as a convenient resource for parents, educators, and coaches alike. It equips them with the knowledge needed to foster a positive and informed approach to their children's involvement in esports, enabling a supportive and enriching experience for young enthusiasts in the ever-evolving world of gaming and esports.
Process
1) Planning and Design
During our meeting with NACE Starleague (NSL), they specified two main requirements: a clean and informative landing page and an exciting video. For the landing page, their emphasis was on presenting information in a clear and organized manner to make it easy for potential attendees to access essential conference details. As for the video, NSL wanted it to be engaging and captivating while effectively communicating the new changes to their platform and competitive structure. Keeping these objectives in mind, we devised a strategy to create an enticing landing page and a dynamic video that would successfully convey NSL's message.
With a three-person team, we quickly assessed the assets that needed to be created and outlined the entire process. The first step was to create a wireframe for the landing page to receive feedback from NSL promptly. Concurrently, we started working on storyboarding the hype video. The rough outline included a logo intro, information about NSL, a showcase of each feature, a preview of the landing page, and a compelling call-to-action (CTA). After NSL approved both the wireframe and storyboard, we proceeded to work on the final versions of the landing page and video.
By following this streamlined approach and collaborating efficiently as a team, we were able to meet NSL's requirements and deliver a high-quality landing page and video that effectively communicated their message.
2) Development and Production
Landing Page:
I finalized the mockup and organized each asset into distinct sections. Next, I proceeded to send the completed design and packaged assets to the developers for implementation.
Video:
During the project, my teammate focused on crafting the copy, while I took charge of animating everything in Adobe After Effects. Together, we made the decision to forgo a voiceover and instead chose futuristic music that aligned better with NSL's current branding. As we progressed, I completed the landing page and moved on to animating each part of the video.
This approach allowed us to receive feedback on one section while I continued working on the next, eliminating unnecessary delays and maximizing productivity. By adopting this strategy, we ensured that NSL could review different parts of the project simultaneously. With only three days available, effective time management was crucial, and this approach proved invaluable in meeting the deadline successfully.
3) Finalization and Launch
Main points of feedback revolved around:
- Text pacing. I further thought about this in that the average reader reads between 200 to 300 words per minute, which shakes out to about 3.3 words per second on the slow end of things (which is probably a good bet since folks are going to be reading at a distance and in a crowded venue). Keeping that in mind, I timed out how text would appear on the video.
- Logo size/elements seemed too large. I ended up rendering that one out with a 10-15% scale down in size along with some other elements.
Landing Page:
We reviewed the landing page meticulously, double-checking all the content and links to ensure accuracy in presenting all relevant information. Additionally, we verified that the call-to-action (CTA) button at the bottom of the page was functioning correctly and that there wasn't any functionally issues when scrolling through the page.

Video:
In the final stages, we added essential touches to the video, aligning it with the conference's branding. After rendering the video for web and social media, we deployed it on the designated platforms—website, YouTube, and Twitter. These efforts successfully showcased NACE Starleague's conference and its updates, sparking anticipation among the audience for the their upcoming seasonal year.
Design
CONCLUSION
Creating the landing page and video for NACE Starleague's conference within the tight three-day deadline was exhilarating. We remained determined to deliver exceptional results despite the pressure. With limited experience using Figma, I learned a lot throughout the process. After receiving valuable feedback, I moved on to the final design phase, seamlessly integrating the team-provided images and content to align perfectly with NSL's branding. Crafting the video was a real thrill, aiming to excite viewers about the cool new changes on LeagueSpot and the upcoming NACE season. Through efficient planning and collaboration, I met the challenging deadline, exceeding NSL's expectations. This experience reinforced the importance of effective time management and communication. Personally, this achievement boosted my confidence in handling time-sensitive tasks while maintaining creativity and precision. Grateful for the opportunity, I eagerly look forward to more exciting challenges in the future.

This experience also opened the door to incorporating customized landing pages into my company's business model. It has become a successful template that we've used for each of our clients, including HerGalaxy.
